This will be its fifth Asia-Pacific office, following Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul and Sydney.
The company plans to hire locally across a range of functions. At the time of CNA’s 16 September report, its careers page listed nine Singapore-based openings across five teams, including applied AI, finance and marketing.
Anthropic’s ASEAN general manager, Dale Finlay, will also be based in Singapore and work with customers and partners across Southeast Asia.
Why Singapore?
According to Anthropic:
- Singapore ranks second among 121 countries for Claude.ai usage relative to population.
- Usage is 5.81 times higher than expected based on Singapore’s population.
- Demand is particularly strong in regulated sectors, including financial services and government.
- Singapore offers strong technical talent, global businesses and research institutions.
- The country has an established innovation ecosystem and supports responsible AI adoption.
Anthropic’s Economic Index also places Singapore second globally for Claude usage relative to its working-age population.
What Does This Mean for Singapore’s Office Market?
Anthropic’s expansion is another sign that Singapore continues to attract international AI companies looking for a regional base.
These firms are not choosing Singapore solely for its geographical location. They are coming for access to technical talent, enterprise customers, government agencies and the wider Southeast Asian market.
As more AI companies establish and expand their teams here, demand could strengthen for well-located offices that offer:
- Convenient access to clients and business partners
- High-quality technology infrastructure
- Flexible room for expansion
- A professional environment that helps attract talent
